About “Giving Up”
During COVID, my wife and I challenged each other to write the best breakup song. I wrote and recorded a demo that same day and she loved it. It was unlike any song I had written and I eventually tracked it in my studio with the various guitar parts and lead vocal. The song captures a sentiment that often goes unspoken – the notion that in the initial stages of a relationship, authenticity can sometimes take a backseat as we feel compelled to portray a certain facade to our partner.
